Typically, most test-takers fall between 17 and 19 years old, but the College Board has special provisions for students outside this range:

1. Under 13 years old or below 8th grade: These students can still register via mail.
2. Ages 13 and under: Can create a free College Board account to register online.
3. Ages 21 and under: Must present a government-issued photo ID, driver’s license, or passport during registration.

SAT Eligibility Criteria: Acceptable ID Proof

The SAT requires a strict government-issued ID proof. Specifically for Indian students, a valid passport is the sole acceptable proof for SAT registration, but here are the other acceptable IDs for those applying from India:

• A valid passport with your name, photograph, and signature
• A U.S. Department of Defence (DoD) Common Access Card (CAC)
• A valid Aadhaar PVC Card with your name and photograph
• An Aadhaar Letter (hard copy only) issued by the Government of India

Note: Only the Aadhaar Letter and Aadhaar PVC Card are accepted. Digital copies, printouts, photocopies, screenshots, or e-Aadhaar are not valid.

Unacceptable ID Proofs for Indian and International Students

The following ID proofs are not accepted at the SAT test centre:

• Damaged, torn, or worn-out ID documents
• IDs shown on mobile phones or other electronic devices
• Digitally altered, edited, or manipulated documents
• Birth certificates
• Social Security cards
• Employee or workplace ID cards
• Missing Child ID cards
• Temporary or provisional ID cards of any kind

SAT Eligibility: Passport-Size Photo Guidelines

Along with a valid ID, students must upload a passport-size photograph during SAT registration. This photo appears on the admission ticket and is used for identity verification at the test centre.
