How to Use the GMAT Score Calculator?

Below, we have explained how to use the GMAT score calculator in simple steps to get your estimated total score instantly.

Step 1: Enter your section scores

Input your estimated or actual scores for Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights. Each section accepts a value between 60 and 90.

Step 2: View your estimated total score

The calculator displays your estimated GMAT Focus Edition total score on the 205 to 805 scale based on your section inputs.

Step 3: Compare with your target schools

Use your score output to check it against the average GMAT scores of your target MBA programs. A score of 655 and above is competitive for most top 50 global business schools.

How Accurate are GMAT Focus Score Calculators?

GMAT score calculators give a good estimate but are not 100% precise. Here is why:

  • The GMAT is adaptive. The difficulty of your questions changes based on how you answer, and no calculator can account for that.
  • Two students with the same section scores can get different total scores depending on which questions they got right.
  • Calculators work from known scoring patterns, not GMAC's actual algorithm, which is never made public.

Use this calculator to:

  • Track your progress across mock tests
  • Identify which section is pulling your score down
  • Check if your current level is competitive for target schools

For the most accurate score estimate, always take an official GMAC practice test from the Bluebook app.

How is GMAT Score Calculated?

The GMAT Focus Edition is scored on a scale of 205 to 805 in 10-point increments across 61 scoring levels. Your total score is calculated from three sections - Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights - each contributing equally to the final result. The Analytical Writing Assessment is no longer part of the GMAT Focus Edition.

The exam is fully adaptive across all three sections. The difficulty of each question adjusts based on your previous responses, which means your final score reflects not just how many questions you answered correctly but the difficulty level of the questions you attempted.

Frequently Asked Questions on GMAT Score Calculators

Can I use this calculator for both Classic GMAT and GMAT Focus Edition scores?

expand-collapse-icon
This calculator is built for the GMAT Focus Edition where each section is scored between 60 and 90. Classic GMAT section scores use a different scale and will not produce accurate results.

How often should I use the GMAT score calculator during preparation?

expand-collapse-icon
Use it after every full-length mock test to track your progress, identify your weakest section, and check whether your estimated total is competitive for your target schools.

What is the minimum and maximum score on the GMAT Focus Edition?

expand-collapse-icon
The GMAT Focus Edition is scored between 205 and 805 in 10-point increments across 61 scoring levels.

Does a low score in one section significantly affect my total score?

expand-collapse-icon
Yes. All three sections contribute equally to your total score. A weak score in any one section will pull your total down just as much as the other two, so balanced preparation across all sections is important.
