TOEFL results are now released faster under the updated rules effective January 21, 2026. Your official scores are available in your ETS account exactly 3 days (72 hours) after you complete the test.

The expected score availability date is shown at the end of your TOEFL iBT exam, and you will also receive an email notification once your scores are released.

The new TOEFL iBT score report includes

Old score format (0-120 scale)

Shows your total score out of 120 along with section-wise scores for Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing. For a two-year transition period starting January 2026, students will continue to receive a comparable overall score on the 0-120 scale.

New 1-6 proficiency band scale

Adds a CEFR-aligned band score (A1 to C2) for clearer skill-based interpretation. The overall band score is calculated as the average of the four section bands and rounded to the nearest half band (for example, an average of 5.125 is reported as 5).

Shows your highest section scores from all valid TOEFL tests taken within the past two years, creating a best overall profile that institutions may consider for admissions.

• Before 21st January 2026: If your score report is based on the new 1-6 scale, MyBest® Scores automatically convert eligible older 0-120 scores to the 1-6 scale.
• After 21st January 2026: If your score report is based on the earlier 0-120 scale, MyBest® Scores include only results reported on the 0-120 scale.

• Step 5: Now choose which specific TOEFL scores you want to send. You can select your most recent test scores or any other test results you prefer to share.
• Step 6: Next, you’ll be prompted to pay a fee for sending each score report to an institution.
