    What is a Good GRE Score for MIT?

    MIT does not have a minimum GRE score requirement. Most STEM-related courses list GRE as “optional,” or “not required.” But since getting into MIT is very competitive, usually the best candidates aim for it. The engineering school at MIT is the best in the world, and students who gain admission there, usually have a GRE score above 330 (higher in quantitative than verbal).

    On average, MIT alumni have a verbal score between 155 and 165 and a quant score of 170. For most programs, you have to be in the top 10%. For the analytical writing section, 4.5 to 5.0 is recommended.

    The MIT applications are taken in two phases - the early decision, which begins on November 1 of every year, and regular action, which commences on January 4 of the next year.
